Enclosure Cutout Designer


The door is the one part of the panel everybody sees, and the one part you only get to drill once. Pick a Saginaw, Rittal or Hoffman enclosure — or any size you type in — lay out the 22 and 30 mm operators and the HMI on the actual door face, and walk away with a hole schedule and a DXF the shop can cut from.

Lay the door out before you pick up a hole saw.

Pick the enclosure, drop on the operators and the HMI, drag them where they belong, and take away the hole schedule and a DXF ready for the laser or the punch. Every cutout uses the manufacturer's published dimensions.

Pick the door

Saginaw EnviroLine and Hoffman CONCEPT sizes come from the model number (H × W × D in inches); Rittal AX models carry the actual door outside size from Rittal's technical data. Or set a generic size for anything else — a two-door face, a legacy box, a flat plate.

Add the cutouts

Pilot-device holes are the hole standards — Ø22.5 and Ø30.6 mm with the anti-rotation keyway at 12 o'clock — and never convert to inches. HMI cutouts are the figures from the installation manuals (Siemens tolerance +1/−0 mm), the DIN 43700 group covers standard panel instruments from 1/32 to 1/4 DIN (+0.6/−0 mm), and the door disconnects group carries complete door preps for Siemens 3VA, Allen-Bradley 140G and Eaton NZM rotary operators. Filter fans from SCE, Rittal and Finder draw the square cutout plus the fan's overall frame dashed, so you can see what the fan really claims on the door. For anything else, describe the cutout yourself.

Described dimension

Drag a cutout to move it — it snaps relative to the datum, and gold guide lines pop up when it lines up with another cutout’s center or the door centerlines, so rows and centered HMIs land exactly. Arrow keys nudge the selected cutout by one snap step; Delete removes it. The dashed red line is the edge margin.

Nothing on the door yet — add cutouts in step 2 and they will show up here with their coordinates.

Coordinates locate each cutout center from the datum you picked in step 1, on that cutout's face. The DXF exports the face you are currently viewing, in the units you have selected (inches or millimeters — the file's units flags and name say which) — Y up, origin on the datum; face outline on layer DOOR, cut paths on CUTOUT, center marks on CENTER, and device footprints (fan frames, HMI bezels) dashed on DEVICE — that layer is for reference, not for cutting. The drawing PDF prints every face that has cutouts on it.

Saginaw EnviroLine (NEMA 4/4X/12 wall-mount, single door)


The model number encodes the size: SCE-HELWWDDLP, inches. The layout face is the enclosure H × W; the EnviroLine door overlaps that face, so treat the edge margin as a hard keep-out. Stainless (SS / SSLP) variants share the same sizes.

nVent Hoffman CONCEPT (Type 4/12 wall-mount, single door)


From Hoffman's "Standard Sizes CONCEPT Single-Door Wall-Mount Enclosures" sheet. The catalog number encodes the size: CSDHHWWD, inches. The layout face is the enclosure H × W; the CONCEPT door overlaps that face, so treat the edge margin as a hard keep-out.

    Cutout dimensions used by this tool and where they come from
    22 mm operators
    Ø22.5 mm per IEC 60947-5-1 (D22: Ø22.3 +0.4/−0), keyway 3.25 mm wide with its top edge 13.0 mm above center. The keyway takes the operator's anti-rotation tab — skip it only if your devices have none.
    30 mm operators
    Ø30.6 mm per the Rockwell 800T standard (800-TD009), keyway 4.57 mm wide, top edge 17.4 mm above center.
    Siemens HMIs
    KTP Basic, TP Comfort and MTP Unified cutouts from the Siemens operating instructions, tolerance +1/−0 mm both axes, square corners, panel thickness 2–6 mm. Note the Unified 15/19/22 in cutouts are smaller than their Comfort equivalents — they are drop-in only at the 700 and 1200 sizes.
    HMI bezels
    Every HMI draws its overall bezel dashed around the cutout, taken from the same manuals (Siemens KTP/TP/MTP dimension drawings; A-B publications 2711R-IN001 and 2711P-TD008). The edge-margin and overlap checks use the bezel — the cutout can fit where the bezel does not.
    Allen-Bradley HMIs
    PanelView 800 per publication 2711R-IN001 (±0.5 mm); PanelView Plus 7 Standard per 2711P-UM007.
    Door disconnects
    Complete door preps drawn as one pattern (rotatable in 90° steps): Siemens 3VA5 / 3VA6 door-mounted rotary operator per the Siemens operating instructions — drilled holes only, no cutout: Ø10 holes at the top-left and bottom-right corners of the operator footprint (77 × 46 for the 3VA5 125, 106 × 71 for 3VA5 250 / 3VA6 150-250, 139 × 93 mm for 400/600 — the footprint is drawn dashed as reference) plus four Ø4.5 screw holes right of it (C 20, F 19, E 27, D 5 or 27 mm). Allen-Bradley 140G variable-depth rotary handles per publication 140G-SG001C-EN-P: Ø35 shaft + 2 × Ø5.5 screws (P-style diagonal 50 × 50; medium handle 63 mm apart, 25 mm off-axis). Eaton NZM1–NZM4 door-coupling handle (XTVD): Ø40 shaft + 4 × Ø8 on a 71 × 71 mm pattern — the same ZFS-series handle and door template across all four frames, verified against the Eaton NZM1 (260166), NZM2 (260168) and NZM4 (266614) datasheets.
    Filter fans
    Square cutout plus the fan's overall frame drawn dashed — the frame is what actually claims door space, and the edge/overlap checks use it. SCE Type 12/3R fan filters per Saginaw's fan-filter manual: cutouts 3.75 / 5.03 / 8.91 / 11.57 in square (95.3 / 127.8 / 226.3 / 293.9 mm), frames 4.19 / 5.9 / 9.84 / 12.8 in. Rittal TopTherm SK 3237–3243 per the Rittal catalog and datasheets: cutouts 92 / 124 / 177 / 224 / 292 mm square, frames 116.5 / 148.5 / 204 / 255 / 323. Finder 7F per datasheet S7FEN: cutouts 92 / 124 / 174 / 220.5 / 289 mm square, frames 120 / 155 / 209 / 255 / 320. Rittal and Finder cutouts differ from the third size up (177 vs 174, 224 vs 220.5, 292 vs 289) — they are not drop-in interchangeable, so cut for the brand you are actually buying.
    DIN 43700 instruments
    Standard panel-instrument cutouts, bezel minus flange, tolerance +0.6/−0 mm: 22.2 × 45 (1/32 DIN), 45 × 45 (1/16), 45 × 92 and 92 × 45 (1/8 vertical / horizontal), 92 × 92 (1/4), 68 × 68 (72 bezel) and 138 × 138 (144 bezel). Covers the usual temperature controllers, counters and panel meters.
    Spacing checks
    The tool flags 22 mm operators closer than 50 mm center-to-center and 30 mm operators closer than 60 mm — room for contact blocks, boots and legend plates — plus anything overlapping or crowding the door edge.
    Check the manual before you cut. These are the manufacturers' published dimensions, but device revisions happen and this page cannot know yours. A field cutout is also a hole in a rated enclosure: the Type / IP rating survives only if the device you mount in it seals to the same rating (UL 508A 19.4, Type-rated devices). SCCR, bonding and everything else about what is behind the door still belongs to your panel design.
